Ben Wieman Earns DFL Endorsement for Minnesota House District 17B

Arlington, MN — Today, Ben Wieman proudly announced he has received the Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) Party endorsement for Minnesota House District 17B, following the district convention held on April 11.

“I am deeply honored to earn the endorsement of the DFL,” said Wieman. “This endorsement reflects the strength of our grassroots campaign and our shared commitment to putting people, farmers, and rural communities first.”

A fifth-generation farmer with deep roots in rural Minnesota, Wieman has built his campaign on strengthening local communities, supporting family farms, and addressing the real needs of Greater Minnesota. Raised on a family dairy farm near Arlington, he brings firsthand experience and a lifelong connection to agriculture and rural issues.

Wieman has emphasized key priorities throughout his campaign, including:

  • Increasing access to affordable healthcare
  • Strengthening rural education systems
  • Supporting retirement security for working families
  • Promoting fair agricultural markets and stronger anti-trust protections
  • Prioritizing communities and land over corporate interests

“The DFL has always stood for farmers, workers, and families,” Wieman added. “I’m ready to carry that tradition forward and be a strong voice for District 17B at the Capitol.”

Earlier today at the Senate District 17 DFL Convention, the official DFL endorsements were given to Julie Kelzer for Minnesota Senate 17, Mali Anderson for Minnesota House 17A, and yours truly for Minnesota House 17B!

National Ag Day

Happy National Agriculture Day! Having grown up on a dairy farm I understand the effort and dedication required to be successful. And though I don’t actively farm today, I also don’t take for granted the hard-working farmers who grew and/or raised today’s meal. One of my goals is to put the “F” and the “L” back in “DFL” and help local farmers and laborers in the agriculture industry who have been left behind.

First things first…

Happy Sunday, everyone!

Yesterday I went to my FIRST and SECOND DFL County Convention as a DFL candidate for State House 17B! First off was McLeod County’s in Hutchinson for the big debut, then over to Carver county’s in Waconia for the second warm welcome.

The excitement in the air was energizing for sure and I had some good chats with folks! We shared concerns of how it’s getting harder for smaller farmers to get by these days, forcing them to sell their land or go bankrupt. Dairy farmers too are getting hit with some of the lowest milk prices ever with more quitting the industry as big farm operations take over. We talked about rural education and how funding cuts are leading to closing schools, larger school districts, larger class sizes, less resources and extra curricular activities, and in the end a worse educational experience for our students.

I’m ready to be a voice for the people of Minnesota 17B! Reach out and let’s have a chat!
